In the days, weeks and months ahead there will be time for anger, politics, recriminations and posturing.
Tonight there is time only for compassion and grief and the offering of comfort to those who have lost so much.
Tonight I cannot write about trivialities such as weight loss, fitness and so forth.
There will be other days and nights for that.
Tonight I will spend my time watching my children as they play their video games or sleep peacefully in their home, safe and secure. Tonight I will mourn for the parents who will never see their child’s smile or get to watch them sleep the angels sleep in their home again. I will grieve for the children whose innocence is irretrievably lost.
This is what tonight is for.
