A Fat Man's Journey (Working my way back…)

An Attempt to Journey from Fat to Fit in a Lifetime. Eat right, Eat less, Move more

Sick is something I don’t enjoy

The Flu

On Wednesday I woke up feeling not so good but I went in to work and made a valiant effort to work the day. I failed. At 10:00 I lefty for home. With an hour and a half commute I was concerned that if I worked the day with my rapidly declining state of health I would not make it home safely. Good thing I left when I did. I got home and went straight to bed and slept for 6 hours.

Thursday was spent in a similar state and last night was the worst night I can ever remember with a high fever and a headache the likes of which I had never experienced before. This morning the fever broke and I seem to be on the mend. I really do not recommend this.

The silly thing about this is that I am a big proponent of the Flu Shot. I get one every year…. Except this year. New Job, disrupted schedule….

I won’t make this mistake again.

The plus side is I am now down to 194.6 pounds. I really do not recommend this as a means for losing weight… It is mostly water weight and I am now trying to put it back on with plenty of fluids. Still I have to admit it was nice to see that number on the scale… The rest of the loss is from not eating very much the last three days…

The negative, aside from feeling so lousy, is missing work. I am not one to be out sick and I am not pleased that I was unable to work. Today was supposed to be a vacation day for me so that is OK but I would have gone in to work had I been well enough to make up for missing the last two days. Well, I have five days to get healthy before I return to work…

I am heading back to the sofa

Well that is all I have the energy for right now.

  1. Get lots of rest, and have a nice holiday with your family!

  2. Argh! Hope the flu lifts quickly for you

  3. Heal quickly! I had it a month ago and yes, it’s nice to see that lower number!!
